How to Identify the Biggest Health Challenges Your Patients Face (and Create Solutions They’ll Love)

If you could solve your patients’ health challenges, wouldn’t that change everything?

Of course it would. 🤯💡

When you know exactly what’s holding your patients back, you can create solutions that actually work.

And when patients feel heard, understood, and supported, they trust you more. That trust fuels your success.

But here’s the thing… most patients don’t even know what their biggest health challenges really are. ❌

They show up in your clinic with vague complaints:

fatigue, bloating, brain fog, joint pain

… without fully understanding what’s causing the problem.

That’s where you come in. ✨

Your job isn’t just to treat symptoms.

It’s to uncover the real issues and offer solutions that patients actually want to follow.

So how do you do that?

Let’s break it down. 👇

Step 1: Listen to Their Language 🎧👂

Patients will tell you everything you need to know – if you know what to listen for.

They might not have the clinical language to describe what’s happening, but their words hold the key to understanding their struggles.

Pay attention to the way they describe their issues.

Are they constantly saying things like:

“I just feel exhausted all the time, no matter what I do.”

“My digestion is all over the place, and I can’t figure out why.”

“I’ve tried everything, and nothing seems to work for me.”

These aren’t just complaints, they’re clues. 🕵️‍♀️

They reveal what’s frustrating your patients most and where they need the most help.

📌 Action Step: Start a “Patient Language Tracker.”

Keep a running list of the most common phrases and concerns your patients mention about their health challenges. Use exact phrases.

Overtime, you’ll see patterns emerge. That’s a sign that you need to develop a specific solution for them.

Step 2: Look for Commonalities 📅🔍

If you check your schedule, you’ll probably see a few patterns emerge.

Are you consistently seeing patients with:

  • Hormonal imbalances?
  • Digestive issues?
  • Bloating?
  • Unrelenting fatigue?
  • Stress and anxiety-related symptoms?

The most common health challenges in your practice aren’t random.

They’re telling you exactly what your patients struggle with the most.

📌 Action Step: Think back about your patient notes from the last three months.

What are the most common reasons people are coming in? Is there a consistent complaint or health challenge they are trying to resolve?

What symptoms keep coming up again and again?

That’s the problem you should be focused on solving.

Step 3: Ask Your Patients Directly 💬📊

If you’re not sure what your patients really need the most, ask them.

One of the best ways to get the information you need to help is to survey them.

And no, it doesn’t have to be complicated. 👌

You can send a simple three-question survey via email, include it with your intake forms, or even ask them in person:

👉 “What’s the #1 health challenge you wish you could solve right now?”

👉 “What’s your biggest frustration when it comes to improving your health?”

👉 “If you could wave a magic wand and fix one thing about your health, what would it be?”

You’d be surprised how much they want to tell you about what’s going on with their health when you give them a chance.

📌 Action Step: If you don’t have them already, start using patient feedback forms in your clinic.

You can also create a poll on social media or ask a question in your next email newsletter.

The more insight you have, the better you can serve and support your patients.

Step 4: Look Online for Clues 🖥️📢

Want even more insight into what your patients are struggling with?

Take a look at online reviews and social media conversations.

They may not think to be honest with you but they might bare all inside a Facebook group or other online platforms. Even review sites can provide great insights about common problems that you and your practice are uniquely qualified to solve.

Where to Look:

🔹 Google & Yelp Reviews

Find other practitioners who do similar work and find out what their patients are saying about their results. What problem or solution did they receive when working with the other practitioner? How did that impact their life?

🔹 Facebook Groups & Wellness Forums

If you have a general idea of the problem you want to solve, take a quick scroll through Facebook, looking for groups of people who have that same challenge. It might be a group that talks about digestive bloating, Hashimoto’s, anxiety, or even PCOS. Join the group and read the posts and comments to find out what kind of help or advice they are looking for.

🔹 Your Own Social Media Comments & DMs

If people interact with you on social media, what type of questions do you get asked most often? What topics generate the most engagement? If you were to make a post with your favorite healthy dessert, what kind of response would you get? Test the waters with different types of social posts to see which ones resonate with your audience.

These can be a goldmine of information to help you understand the most common health challenges your ideal patients are facing. Once you can zone in on one specific problem, you’ll be able to craft a customized solution that truly meets their needs.

📌 Action Step: Set aside 10 minutes a week to scan online reviews and peek in on social media conversations.

Create a spreadsheet or even make notes in your phone about the most common struggles, questions, and frustrations – these will help shape your content and the services or programs you offer.

Step 5: Create Solutions They’ll Actually Use 🏆✅

Once you know what your patients are struggling with, it’s time to create a solution.

But not just any solution – it should be something that will provide a transformation.

Here’s how to make sure your recommendations actually stick.

1. Make It Personal 🎯

Patients don’t want generic advice.

They want to follow a plan that feels uniquely tailored to them, helping them solve their problem.

A cookie-cutter approach won’t cut it.

The solution you provide should help them feel seen, heard, and confident that you are the perfect person to help them restore their health – that their struggles matter.

2. Keep It Simple ✂️

The best health solutions are easy to understand and even easier to follow.

If your patients feel overwhelmed with a long list of recommendations, tests, supplements, and dietary advice, they are less likely to follow through.

Create something that includes small, doable steps instead of a long list of rules.

3. Educate & Empower 📚💡

Patients need to know why your recommendations matter.

The easiest way to do this is to provide resources, handouts, or video trainings to help them understand the why. These added-value resources will empower and inspire them to keep going.

When they understand the connection between their health challenges and diet, mindset, stress, sleep, etc.,  they’re far more likely to stay the course and get the desired outcome.

📌 Action Step: Create solution-based resources for your patients.

Whether it’s a simple handout, a digital guide, or a short video explaining a common health challenge, these resources will provide incredible value for your patient.

The easier you make it for them to understand and follow your recommendations, the better their results will be.
